Human Rights Groups to Monitor Guatemalan Elections
RFK Memorial Center for Human Rights, Center for International Policy, Washington Office on Latin America and U.S. Office on Colombia are sending a delegation to Guatemala to observe the September 9th national elections.

WASHINGTON DC – An election monitoring delegation composed of representatives from the RFK Memorial Center for Human Rights, the Center for International Policy, the Washington Office on Latin America, and the U.S. Office on Colombia will travel to Guatemala this week to observe the upcoming general elections.

General elections in Guatemala are scheduled for September 9, 2007. The delegation, composed of human rights groups, is calling for transparent, free and fair elections. Additionally the delegation urges the government to take steps to guarantee indigenous groups are not disenfranchised.
