Jeffrey R. Buchanan, B.A.
Communications Officer
Jeffrey Buchanan is the Communications Officer for the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Center for Human Rights. Mr. Buchanan is responsible for the writing and distributing the Memorial's newsletter, brochures, press releases and news articles. Mr. Buchanan also works with 2005 RFK Laureate Stephen Bradberry on RFK Center's New Orleans and Gulf Coast program supporting the efforts of ACORN Louisiana and developing an advocacy strategy for the Gulf Coast Civic Works Project.
Mr. Buchanan is also responsible for maintaining computer hardware and software, providing network support, and managing the Memorial's website.
Mr. Buchanan serves on the Board of Advisers to the Institute for Southern Studies' Gulf Reconstruction Watch.
He has written articles for newspapers like the Washington Afro American, Louisiana Weekly, Dallas Weekly, and the San Francisco Bayview and magazines like ColorLines and Houston Living. He has been been featured on MSNBC, Air America, NPR, Pacifica Radio, the Lars Larson Show and numerous national and local television and radio shows for Gulf Coast work.
He is a contributor to the Huffington Post, Smirking Chimp, Black Agenda Report, Counterpoint, TomPaine.com and numerous news and commentary websites. He has written commentaries published in the Baltimore Sun, Raleigh News and Observer, Atlanta Constitution Journal, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Palm Beach Post, Miami Herald and the Buenos Aires Herald.
With his expertise in communication strategies, Mr. Buchanan has worked with Robert Weiner Associates and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Mr. Buchanan received his B.A. in International Studies and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
